
MME Onboarding Guide
Initial Steps
Welcome to CERN! Your journey here begins with a couple of simple, yet important steps. First, embark on your onboarding journey, where you’ll get to know the people, processes, and culture that make CERN unique. Next, make sure to register your personal vehicle, so your arrival and daily commute are smooth and hassle-free.

Guidance and Support for Setup:
Office and Equipment Setup
- It is handled by the EN-MME Group Secretariat: mme.sec@cern.ch
- Office assignment
- PC setup and support (ATS Support)
- Mobile subscription
Technical and IT Setup
Setup CERN email (Outlook) and customize your email address if needed.
- Access collaboration tools:
- Mattermost – CERN’s chat and team communication platform
- Zoom – Video conferencing
- Set up CERNphone and create your phone number.
- Configure remote desktop.
- Set up a printer.
- Create a ticket to install Microsoft Office.

Access Requirements
- Request access to facilities via ADAMS (based on Section Leader’s instructions). Some security courses are required for access validation.
- Request keys for specific facilities (as per Section Leader’s instructions).
- Apply for CERN Car Driving Authorisation and request a token from the MME Secretariat once approved.
- Obtain a dosimeter (subject to a medical exam and radiation protection training).
- If required, request access to the Group’s operational dosimeter pool.
- Obtain safety equipment as per Section Leader’s instructions:
- Helmet, headlamp, safety shoes (must be tried on at Store 73/R-002, Mon-Fri 13:00-16:00, SCEM code must be communicated to CV secretariat to place the order).
- Fill in your Emergency Contact and any Change of Family and Personal Situation.
Policies and Procedures
- Read the CERN Code of Professional Ethics and Code of Conduct.
- Review material transfer guidelines for transporting equipment.
- Understand CERN’s official travel procedures:
- Familiarize yourself with the leave procedure.
- Learn about the EN Guidelines for Teleworking.
- Explore the purchase tools (if instructed by Section Leader; follow CERN purchasing procedures and templates).

- Review CERN safety standards: HSE web page, “Safety Policy” and “Safety Training“.
